COMMON HEALTH CONDITIONS

WHY IS MY CHILD SICK?

Having a sick child can be very stressful for parents. Children’s immune systems, however, are constantly changing, so certain illnesses are common as they grow up. If your child is not well, Dr Shah will examine them for signs and symptoms of common health conditions that typically affect children.

In most cases, the illness won’t be serious. However, if there are any symptoms to worry about, Dr Shah will explain the situation to you and order further testing.

WHAT SYMPTOMS SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR?

Typically, your child may present with troubling symptoms such as:

  • Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
  • Fever
  • Stomach Pain
  • Earache
  • Rash or itching
  • Shortness of breath

HOW CAN DR SHAH HELP?

After discussing your child’s symptoms and conducting a physical exam, Dr Shah will also ask you questions about your child’s mood, behaviour, and eating habits. This forms part of her holistic approach to paediatric medicine and will help her make an informed diagnosis.

Once a diagnosis is made, Dr Shah will guide you through the treatment plan that is best for your child. This may include medication where necessary.

If your child’s condition is serious, Dr Shah will order the appropriate tests and explain the next steps in treatment for your peace of mind.
